Bug Description

When mulitpathd is called for a reload, a general protection fault occurs on the process. The process will silently fail with the exception of a general protection fault showing the kern.log's.

Sep 23 15:14:25 123456-compute kernel: [2060005.780291] traps: multipathd[8490] general protection ip:7f5e9a8b47c5 sp:7f5e9b7dc880 error:0 in libc-2.19.so[7f5e9a836000+1ba000]

This occurs on multiple hosts in our environment and is not isolated to a single host. The backend storage is iSCSI, with XtremIO.

Hi,
could you check if the recent release of multipath-tools (0.4.9-3ubuntu7.14) along bug 1535898 fixed it for you?
If not you might be affected by 1628723

Could you check if your case is fixed by the first or fully matches the second case?

The issue still appears to be present on multipath-tools (0.4.9-3ubuntu7.14). We tested that package on Monday, and experienced the same crash.

@matthew

Can you check bug 1628723 that Christian mentioned to see if your crash matches that report or if it is something different?

@rackspace.matt: Are you able to test either 16.04.2 or (even better) in 17.04 to see if it also happens there? Just lets us narrow down whether the bug is already fixed upstream/in the package version there (0.6.4 is the upstream version).

Hi,
I'm trying to clear a few old bugs, nothing similar has come up over the recent years that would have made this more debuggable/reproducible :-/ Nor was there further feedback/discussion here, therefore I'll set it to incomplete as I can't see how to further act on this case without more info.
