Bug Description
Scenario: 16GB USB memory-stick, 2 partitions FAT32, /dev/sdc1 with label1, /dev/sdc2 with label2 (versions of the packages see below)
I tried to change the label2 with gparted from '123456789' to '12345678'.
There are different reactions in 32bit and 64bit version. I tried it some times and got the same error every time. Gparted works o.k. (I've checked it with 0.8.1 and 0.12.1, too and got the same error)
The problem was solved after installation of mtools_
64bit:
3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 20:39:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux , gparted 0.11.0-2 , mtools 4.0.12-1
Label2 had been changed to '12345678 nA' (including space). Then I tried to change back it to '123456789'. The result was '123456789nA'
32bit:
3.2.0-23-
I couldn't change the label2. Gparted shows in the details an error message
mlabel: no response , can't access drive 'H:'
You should replace mtools-package by a newer version in your repository.
