Bug Description

Binary package hint: msttcorefonts

I attempted to install ubuntu-restricted-extras using apt-get in a terminal, at some point the microsoft EULA appeared in the terminal. The EULA had <OK> at the bottom but I could not select anything so I could not accept the terms of the EULA. After sitting with for about an hour with the EULA showing in the terminal I closed the terminal. Now if I attempt to use apt-get I get the EULA (again with no option to accept). If i try to use synaptic to remove the p.o.s. msttcorefonts package I get "package is badly broken, try reinstallation", if I try to reinstall the package I get a window with the microsft EULA which finally gives me the option to accept but when I do I get a crash. I just want this MS garbage off of my computer.

dos-like screen when attempting to install ubuntu-restricted-extras says everything. dpkg gets thrown for a loop because now the program can not be uninstalled and others which depend on it can't either. smells malicious.

me@mine:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
[sudo] password for jessica:

E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

it even stops me from dist-upgrading. have to reboot.

all hell breaks loose. did a dist upgrade, tried to refuse to accept the EULA using ctrl-C, since there is no longer a "no" option -- broke that terminal window, won't refresh, flooded with my login prompt... stupidly hit reboot... aaaannd... my dist-upgrade was obviously cut off in the middle and that's a bad idea.... and now my system is totally unusable. i will have to manually recover data using a bootable cd.
