Binary package hint: msttcorefonts

Immediately after the upgrade, the communication with dns slowed down by orders of magnitude. No matter which url is addressed, firefox hangs literally for minutes on "looking up ...".

Have you tried changing your DNS to Google DNS or OpenDNS?
