mozilla-mplayer plugin isn't detected in Firefox 3.0beta3

I have installed mozilla-mplayer on my Kubuntu Hardy and firefox-3.0 doesn't detect the mplayer plugin so no media gets played. I tried symlinking the plugins from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to /usr/lib/xulrunner/plugins but it didn't help.

Firefox 3.0b3 does not detect mozilla-mplayer plugin on Ubuntu 7.10, either. This seems to be a problem with the browser rather than the operating system.

As a workaround solution, you can try to use gecko-mediaplayer which, as far as I can tell, works ok with firefox 3.0 (this is from the same author of mozilla-mplayer and it is using gnome-mplayer as a front-end to mplayer).

The symlinks from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins need to be placed in /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins in order for Firefox 3 to detect them. Simple fix, just add the symlinks to the mozilla-mplayer package when it installs. It's just a change in the directory where Firefox looks for plugins.
