Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
1) Install mplayer
2) Run mplayer on any video
Expected: Video playback (assuming appropriate codecs installed)
Actual: mplayer gives: "Error opening/
Fix: Change default mplayer video driver from xmga to x11 or xv.
(I looked for a previous report, but couldn't find one!)

I tried from a clean VMware install and was able to duplicate the exact problem. Confirming.
