Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
Might as well be a PulseAudio issue (would be my first one, can you believe that?!)
To reproduce this problem, simply run mplayer on any file which is supposed to produce sound. While it's running, press "m" to mute. Then "q" to quit. Rerun mplayer and hear nothing. Press "m" a couple of times before you smash your laptop against the wall out of frustration.
You might want to open pavucontrol to see that the volume is 0%, even when a new instance of mplayer is run.
I expected the new mplayer instance to make sound. At least, I expected a way of making mplayer make sound.
