Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
I have a dvd -t card with an additional s-video interface.
00:0a.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7131/
Via this interface I attach a VHS player and want to view videos.
This works fine, but unfortunately mplayer does not detect sound.
Nevertheless, sound is definitely available:
When I start the following command
arecord -D hw:1,0 -f S16_LE | aplay
in another window I can hear the sound of the video.
These are the messages at mplayer startup:

Official support for Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" has ended. Is this issue still occurring in Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr"?
