Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
Mplayer occasionally freezes. Not total lockup, but more like a pause. Press any key, even alt or shift, and it resumes. If mplayer is using an audio server, the sound continues after the video pause for a second or two as the sound buffer empties. Pressing a key then, the video resumes from the point the sound did.
This is a mild annoyance. I haven't tried rectifying it by taping a key down yet...

After some experimentation, I think I've figured out it's not mplayer itself that causes this.
I've also had similar pauses from vlc and totem which led me to try various settings in compiz without success, then killing compiz.real completely and running mplayer without a window manager.
I had no pauses then, the problem seems to be caused by something odd happening at the window manager level.
