Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
I'm a student, and my university supplies us with video lectures, which free me from attending boring lectures, and catch up on my free time.
Mplayer latest builds allows the use of the "scaletempo"[1] audio filter, which allows playing videos faster, while keeping the pitch intact. this is crucial for students.
I'm using latest Hardy, and that option is unsupported.
Please update the mplayer package, since for now, i'm forced to use windows media player, which supports that option.
thanks

This audio filter is extremely useful when watching slow-paced videos (many can be watched at 1.33x or 1.5x speed without any comprehension problems).
I've moved over to Kubuntu AMD64 9.04, and was hoping it would ship with the latest version of mplayer, but I'm still having to use an "old" Slackware machine to use "scaletempo".
