MP4 video plays rotated sideways, instead of upright

Bug Description

Received a video, played it.

It played rotated 90 deg. CCW. I expected it to play upright.

Workarounds include using VLC or telling mplayer to play it using -vf rotate=1, but that's slower and more cumbersome than just doubleclicking.
