video output aalib only displays the left hand side of the video

when using xv output or x11 output i get the proper resolution of the video.
when using aalib, i only get the left hand side of the video (60%).

will attach screenshots.

the aalib test application aafire appears to work fine.

This also happens at the console, even with screen size larger than 80×25.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

This is should be done by using sub option "monitorpixelaspect 0.5" e.g
mplayer -vo aa -monitorpixelaspect 0.5 foo.ogg
