Bug Description

Observed keyboard hotkey behaviour:

- don't work with audio files with regular users or using sudo
- work perfectly with video files with regular users
- don't work with video files when using the -novideo option

Expected behaviour:

- should always work, for all types of (supported) files

Other notes:

- up to relatively recently (1 month?), everything was fine
- it may have something to do with window focus (mplayer creates a new window for video files...)
- the following messages are always displayed, regardless of the -novideo option:

"Cannot open file '/home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory
Failed to open /home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf.
Cannot open file '/etc/mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory
Failed to open /etc/mplayer/input.conf."

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

Forgot to add: this affects 2 machines and no custom keyboard hotkey mapping was performed on either. Also, apparently, the mapping files are only present in the mplayer package, but I'm using mplayer2 which doesn't install them, presumably because it doesn't need them. But then, the error messages seem to suggest otherwise.

Nobody else with this issue? I reported the issue on askubuntu as well: http://askubuntu.com/questions/682781/mplayer-suddenly-stopped-responding-to-keyboard-commands-what-gives

Fruitless for now, just like here. No suggestions, anyone?

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
