Okay, if you put :

audio_output {
        type "pulse"
        name "My MPD PulseAudio Output"
}

in /etc/mpd.conf it works again. But without that it gives segmentation fault.

I've started getting a segmentation fault when trying to start mpd in Intrepid Ibex.

ripps@ripps-desktop:/var/lib/mpd$ sudo /usr/bin/mpd --verbose

It seems like this might be a problem with at dependency.

I can confirm the bug on Intrepid Ibex, and also can confirm that Tares's comment works to keep mpd from crashing.

I can confirm that Tares comment works. Also for solving the E: client-conf-x11.c: XOpenDisplay() failed messages mpd needs to be added to the pulse audio servers lists. Look at http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/PulseAudio under " For Distros where PulseAudio access rights are broken " :D

I can confirm Segfaults when using alsa or auto detect. Using Tares' output section mpd is working here, too.

Uh, sounds to me like it always worked fine in upstream, but never in Ubuntu because Ubuntu patches the defaults.

Is that a fair analysis? If so, this ought to be re-opened until a user *in Ubuntu* verifies that it is fixed.

Last comment by tremby suggests it's fixed with the official version in the ubuntu-archive:

The git version now runs fine for me, but that's 0.15~git, whereas the Ubuntu one is still 0.14. Anyway, both run now.
