For me the following solution is working (on trusty).
1. Using the mpd-sima package 0.13 (intended for jessie) from http:// codingteam. net/project/ sima
2. Use the python3-musicpd backport available in the c42-backport ppa
The python3-musicpd can be backported from vivid to trusty without any change. The package in missing in trusty, so no other conflicts can be introduced.
