Its quite annoying since many people won't have utf8 fonts installed and there not a dependency.
You can revert from the dapper to breezy version of mpage package.
or
Quick work around (for most files) is to pipe postscript file produced through
grep -v '^\/uni'
before passing to viewer ot printer
e.g.
mpage -1 royal-mail.txt |grep -v '^\/uni' | gv -
|
