Bug Description

When Firefox starts, its start page is localized depending on your choice of language.

Canada French (fr_CA) is not currently supported, so the attached index-fr_CA.html is not displayed.

This is to request that the Canada French locale be supported. Other fr_CA localization bugs / RFEs to follow.

You need to attach a translation for _firefox_, not just the homepage. This is an xpi file.

Ok, misunderstood your previous advice. I think it's more logical to just link from the index-fr_FR.html page. WIll update here as appropriate.

Ian, do you know how to add translated home pages to Firefox? Does that only work with a complete langpack XPI, or is it possible to merely add a translated start page?

It's only possible with m-f-l-all the way it currently is to have a
translated homepage when there is also a translated XPI in m-f-l-all.

In principle I think it would be possible to have a translated
homepage reusing some other XPI (en_US or en_GB, perhaps) or no XPI at
all, but I haven't investigated this so I can't confirm it.

A suitable experiment would be to make a jar for the locale containing
only the homepage change and see if it works.

Ian.

I have recently been using XFCE (in Xubuntu) more often, and noticed that Epiphany will use the right home page, correpsonding to the locale specified (in this case index-fr_CA.html .

I think, as long as we don't have an xpi, canadians should use plain fr :) ( /me ducks )

This is still a issue with Ubuntu 8.04, the fr_CA start page is only showing when you manually add French/Canada at the top of the Languages List. I just hope this is fixed for the next release.
