sudo mousepad run from terminal issues error statements

Bug Description

When I run sudo mousepad from a terminal command line, I get one of three error statements, which are printed twice in each case:

sudo mousepad
(mousepad:5464): GLib-CRITICAL **: 20:10:37.903: g_strjoinv: assertion 'str_array != NULL' failed

(mousepad:5464): GLib-CRITICAL **: 20:10:37.904: g_strjoinv: assertion 'str_array != NULL' failed

sudo mousepad {existing_filename}
(mousepad:5345): GLib-CRITICAL **: 20:04:44.064: g_strjoinv: assertion 'str_array != NULL' failed

(mousepad:5345): GLib-CRITICAL **: 20:04:44.064: g_strjoinv: assertion 'str_array != NULL' failed

sudo mousepad {non-existing_filename}
(mousepad:5493): GLib-CRITICAL **: 20:11:27.158: g_strjoinv: assertion 'str_array != NULL' failed

I am running:
Linux 5.15.0-67-generic x86_64
Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

with mousepad version 0.5.8
