Bug Description

I have Installed Feisty Fawn 7.04 on to my MacBook Pro and every thing seems to work fin till I Connected a external Mouse. I am only able to use the mouse, when I am not using the keyboard. The Dose not happen to my other PCs running Ubuntu.

This dose not seem problematic until I attempt to use STEAM to play FPS or every other game I have. The strange thing is that I am able to use the touch pad and the keyboard at the same time since the touch pad dose not lock up like the external usb mouse.

I have also have tried other mouse and keyboards but no luck. I think it has to do with the built in keyboard and touch pad on the MacBook Pro.

So the bottom line is external mouse stops working when i use the internal keyboard and external usb keyboard. Then come back to life when I stop using the keyboards.

may be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/102497
but not sure since the internal touch mouse works fine with the keyboards.

Did removing mouseemu solved this? Can we mark this as Rejected thus being a "feature" of mouseemu and suggest that mouseemu to be removed since synaptics provides similar functionalities (scroll, 2nd and 3rd button tapping, mouse disabling with syndaemon)?

mouseemu was actually involved, removing it solved my problem

I had the same problem on my MacBook. mouseemu is definitely the culprit. Instead of removing it though,
edit /etc/default/mouseemu and uncomment and change the last line to:

TYPING_BLOCK="-typing-block 0"

It appears mouseemu has a feature to disable the trackpad while typing. It seems to be mistaking an external mouse
for the trackpad because the mouse gets disabled but NOT the trackpad. Perhaps this is a usb device naming issue.

I had the same problem with my desktop PC. Removing mouseemu fixed the problem in a matter of seconds. Thanks a lot for the tip BlueSky/andybotting!

The only wierd thing is that my PC ain't a laptop.

Some hardware specs:
Mobo: Asus P5B Deluxe
Mouse: Microsoft Habu
Keyboard: Logitech G15

Ubuntu distro: Feisty Fawn 7.04 (Nordic edition).

The thing I don't understand is why a touchpad-feature even is active on a desktop PC.

Is this still a problem in Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy)?
