motion stops recording, but keeps running

I installed motion, and it seems to work correctly, recording video on movement. Recently, I notice that it seems to stop generating new events and recording videos and stills. This is strange, as there should be some activity. After restarting motion, it starts recording new videos every now and then again, so I'm pretty sure this is a problem with motion.

I also have enabled hourly snapshots, these are generated as expected, and although I can't check with a browser, it appears that the HTTP services are working correctly all the time as well.

Using Ubuntu 10.10, motion 3.2.12-2.

This is old, nobody else chimed in, and it's now working for me. Somebody with enough authority can just close this for all I care.
