Bug Description

Binary package hint: motion

Using ArtistX 0.7, based on Ubuntu 8.10.

Suring download to upgrade to 9.4 one message said that "...motion..." failed to update.

While processing the downloaded files, another error message about motion.

At the end of the upgrade process, a message said the system could be definitely unusable.

I logged out. Then the system started what seemed to be an automated recovery process.

Could log in again, but only in safe graphical mode. Then I moved on to allow the restricted Nvidia 180. driver. Done without problems.

Went to synaptic and reloaded. Two files were shown under "updates". They were java related, but cannot remember their names.

As I didn't take notes, I'm sorry but cannot provide any more precise details.

best regards

I also use ArtistX version .7, have upgraded to 9.04-only problem was Motion-later found the following 2 packages were not upgraded & also only one was upgraded via Synaptic Pkg Mgr-not the Update Mgr-Update Mgr only showed them in Gray color-had to use Synaptic Pkg Mgr and it only upgraded the package "liblucene2-java", the package it didn't was "libmit-data", which your WEB sites shows nothing about this, except in Bug-https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367357--NOTE: I still have Motion Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I finally got 'motion' to install without any issues. What I did was Completely Remove 'motion' through Synaptic and reboot the computer. Reopen Synaptic, search for 'motion' and 'Mark for Installation'. Next right-click 'motion' again and highlight 'Mark Suggested for Installation' at the bottom of the menu. Click on anything in the new side menu in black letters ('postgresql-client' was still in black for me). Click on 'Apply' and watch and see if you receive any errors. When I did this, everything installed without any issues. Hope this helps!!!
