monodevelop (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

1. Install monodevelop using apt-get
2. Launch it

Actual:
monodevelop crashes and shows the following error inside an error dialog:
System.TypeInitializationException: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for MonoDevelop.Core.Gui.Services ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Extension node not found in path: /MonoDevelop/Core/PlatformService
  at Mono.Addins.ExtensionContext.GetExtensionObjects (System.String path, System.Type arrayElementType, Boolean reuseCachedInstance) [0x00000]
  at Mono.Addins.ExtensionContext.GetExtensionObjects (System.String path) [0x00000]
  at Mono.Addins.AddinManager.GetExtensionObjects (System.String path) [0x00000]
  at MonoDevelop.Core.Gui.Services..cctor () [0x00000] --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

  at MonoDevelop.Ide.Gui.IdeApp.Initialize (IProgressMonitor monitor) [0x00000]
  at MonoDevelop.Ide.Gui.IdeStartup.Run (System.String[] args) [0x00000]

Expected:
Monodevelop should start normally.

Note 1: I've talked to monodevelop developers on IRC and they suspect it's a packaging bug.
Note 2: I've also tried to "sudo apt-get remove monodevelop", "sudo apt-get purge monodevelop", deleting the ~/.config/MonoDevelop folder completely followed by "sudo apt-get install monodevelop". I still see the exact same bug.

Hi,

I don't know if it exactly the same bug that I encounter, but I have the same kind of problem as Martin, since I have upgrade to Kubuntu 13.04 :

What I have done:
---------------------
1. Install monodevelop using apt-get
2. Launch it
      - using graphical interface
      - using the Konsole
      - using the Konsole with the "no-splash" option

What happens:
-----------------
1. No installation error, everything seems ok at this stage
2.
     - using graphical interface:
        nothing happens
        no "monodevelop" process in KSysGuard

     - using the Konsole:
        nothing happens
still no "monodevelop" process in KSysGuard

     - using the Konsole with the "no-splash" option:
An error occurs, and a error window appears : "MonoDevelop could not start. The following error has been detected :
     Method not found: 'MonoDevelop.Components.Docking.DockFrame.ToCairoColor'."

For more information, see attachment "MonoDevelop_crash_at_launch".

Thanks for your help

Bug #1254253 opened. Please don't report this bug twice.

I noticed that this problem actually disapears on Saucy official release CD image.
Fo me, this problem reappears after an update.
I'm trying to isolate the problematic update.
