Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic

this happened to me when tying to upgrade my Ubuntu 8.10 installation.
I think this could be releated to the error, which is found in dmesg after aptitude safe-upgrade is run:

the problem can't be reproduced using commad sudo depmod -a. The command seems to finish its work fine.
Can't it be because I am running other kernel version (2.6.27-6) since the 2.6.27-7 seems to not be installed okay for me to boot it?

I figured out, how to manage depmod -a failed on that SIGSEGV error:

need to run: depmod -a 2.6.27-7-generic

I hope I attached the right debug info for you

Thanks for your answer
