Bug Description

I'm running Arch with the current modemmanager (0.7.990-4), and my WWAN Card (a Dell Mobile Broadband 5540, basically just a rebranded Ericsson F3607gw) doesn't work, as the card is "unsupported".

See the attached logfile for the console output.

Any attempts to connect with the card fail, with the error message being "no valid data ports can be found."

Downgrading ModemManager to 0.6 fixes the issue and connections can be made, but this version is no longer supported in Gnome 3.8.

Oh, weird, can you grab me lsusb -v of the device? Missing VID/PID pair in the udev rules maybe?

udev rules seem to be the same in both MM_06 and git master branches, so maybe it's another thing...

Could you grab me debug logs with MM 0.7.x?

https://live.gnome.org/NetworkManager/ModemManager/Debugging#Debug_logs

Also, if you could test with self-compiled ModemManager git master, instead of the 0.7.x packaged by Arch, that would be much better.

Here is the debug output of the current git version of MM (built with the AUR package that I had to fix first)

Oh, this looks much nicer, I don't see any problem with this logs. The modem is properly detected by the MBM plugin in your last logs. Doesn't it work?

I accidentally forgot a dependency, tried it again with the git version. I still see those lines in the log:

[mm-plugin.c:900] mm_plugin_create_modem(): Could not grab port (usbmisc/cdc-wdm1): 'Cannot add port 'usbmisc/cdc-wdm1', unsupported'
[mm-plugin.c:900] mm_plugin_create_modem(): Could not grab port (usbmisc/cdc-wdm0): 'Cannot add port 'usbmisc/cdc-wdm0', unsupported

which I assumed were part of the bug, but now I am able to connect.

So unless those lines are signs of another bug, this issue seems resolved when the next release is packaged by Arch. Thanks for your time.
