I know it's been a long time, but the fix for this upgrade error has just been committed to pkg-mono SVN. The problem occurs when the file /etc/apache2/ mods-available/ mod_mono. conf has been deleted for some reason - the postinst script assumes the file is there, as there's no good reason for it not to be.
Try shoving the following into the file: x-asp-net .aspx .ashx .asmx .ascx .asax .config .ascx server2/ mono-server2- hosts.conf
AddType application/
DirectoryIndex index.aspx
Include /etc/mono-
As long as the file exists in general though, the error should not happen
