Bug Description

Binary package hint: miro

I just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 by update manager yesterday. However, the miro application was disappeared on my menu, and it seems never be installed. So I use synaptic to install it once again. The synaptic indicated that the miro-data was installed already. However, when I install the miro, it reported that it cannot over write the file that belonging to miro-data. Lastly, I uninstall the miro-data and then install the miro as new. The installation was completed. Finally, the miro work again, and all previously downloaded are keeping properly.

Dependencies:

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
ErrorMessage: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/applications/miro.desktop', which is also in package miro-data
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia wl

SourcePackage: miro
Title: package miro None failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/applications/miro.desktop', which is also in package miro-data
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-7-generic i686

Hm. That log does not have sufficient information for me to diagnose
this. I suspect that you have a version of miro-data from a 3rd party
(probably getmiro.com) repository. Can you please add the output of
running the command
"""
apt-cache policy miro miro-data
"""
in a terminal?
