Bug Description

After updating from ubuntu 20.04 (which had minicom 2.7) to ubuntu 22.04 (which has minicom 2.8) the special sequences in the .macros file for adding a delay (^~) or carriage return (^M) are no longer interpreted and are output as literal strings (I assume all the special sequences are affected).

There does appear to be an upstream bug report about this https://github.com/Distrotech/minicom/issues/7
