I am unable to console into the cisco 2960-XR series switches with minicom. These switches use the same setting as any other cisco switch. I can connect using SecureCRT with the same settings.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible for this report to make progress unless you can specify exactly what settings you are using, what settings your device requires, and exactly how you are configuring minicom to determine that it doesn't work.
You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http:// www.chiark. greenend. org.uk/ ~sgtatham/ bugs.html. Keep in mind that most developers do not have access to exactly your model of switch, but any bug in minicom is likely to be related to general serial communication and not exactly that switch. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.
