Please don't change Standards-Version. Can't XS-Python-Version dropped or does the package work only with Python 2.6?

The patch looks good, but you forgot to update the Maintainer field (with update-maintainer).

I built the package, but it still depends on python2.5, because this version is hard-coded in the upstream package. Run
grep -ir "2\.5" *
to find all the occurrences.
