Bug Description

Binary package hint: metacity

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.10
Release: 10.10

$ apt-cache policy metacity
metacity:
  Installed: 1:2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.30.2-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Looking in gconf-editor at /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_window_screenshot, the default value is "<Alt>Print". This shortcut does not work for me. Nothing happens when I press the shortcut.

/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_screenshot has a value of "Print", but that shortcut works correctly (it takes a screenshot of the entire screen).

Changing the window_screenshot value to "<Alt>q" for example works as expected. Pressing ALT+Q grabs the currently active window. Changing back to "<Alt>Print" effectively disables the functionality.

I have desktop effects (compiz) completely disabled.

The weirdest connection just appeared:

If I set the "Key(s) to change layout" to "Left Win" and "Right Win" in Keyboard Preferences->Options..., the window grabbing key is apparently interpreted as "<Super>Print". That is to say, having those (or either?) keys checkmarked in Options..., the window grabbing works, but by using either the left or right windows keys on my keyboard plus the PrintScreen key.

Unchecking those two keys in the Options... dialog disables this behavior.

I have no idea of what's going on here.
