Please see attached screenshot to understand that I am talking about. This was
also spotted in Evolution but I can't reproduce that there anymore.

as seen, take a look at the right top corner of the deer park window, and then
alternatively in the left side of the same window. actual presentation area is
shifted approx 3-4 mm to the right, and the window upper border is shifted some
to the left.

I have seen this problem a few times on my laptop in recent days (Dapper Fligh 1
install, then daily upgraded). But it is a very intermitent problem on my
machine, and I have only seen it with Firefox.

See if you can reproduce it with thunderbird as well, as I have done.

The window border is generated by metacity, the window manager. You have
resized the window to full screen and it seems to be misplacing the title in
this case.

Yes, this seems more reasonably the source for the bug :-) I now see this is
easily reproduciable in OpenOffice.org2:

ii openoffice.org2 1.9.129-0.1ubuntu4
OpenOffice.org Office suite version 2.0
ii openoffice.org2-base 1.9.129-0.1ubuntu4
OpenOffice.org office suite - database
