I get something very similar. I try to right-click on "Home" in "Desktop Folder" on the kde4 desktop and get a signal 11.

Steps to reproduce (included all steps I could think of being relevant):

1. Install ubuntu 9.04.
2. Install nvidia driver (version 180 or something).
3. Install kde-core.
4. Log out, change session to kde and log in.
5. Right-click on "Home" in "Desktop Folder" on the desktop.

Observe: screen goes black momentarily, then comes back with kde crash handler the first time. Second time the same, except no kde crash handler. Reproducible.

This bug does not appear to happen when right-clicking on the only other icon "Trash", or anywhere else on the desktop. Left-clicking works fine, and opens nautilus.

Expected: a pop-up menu or something, not a crash.

Tried installing kdebase, and I am no longer able to reproduce this bug. Seems some component in kdebase "fixed" this issue for me.

If this is still an issue for you, could you please install kdebase-dbg and kdebase-workspace-dbg and get a new stack trace? Thanks in advance.

I don't dare to reopen the bug report, but I have experienced the same issue. I installed kde-core on Xubuntu Jaunty + kdm. After a reboot, right-clicking any icon except the trash can crashed the plasma workspace. Also installing kdebase removed the issue.
