Bug Description

Binary package hint: checkbox

Hi everyone,

Ubuntu 9.10, beta, i386
GNOME 2.28.0
Kernel 2.26.31-11

I have the following problem. If I click a button AND make NO movement with my mouse AND click the same button again there is no further action which is supposed to be by clicking this button. With the second click the color of the button changes, but no action follows.

I have this problem with system Testing Aplication (System->Administration->System Testing), button „Next“.

The same problem I can observe with other Gnome aplications, e.g. Display (System->Preferences->Display), button „Detect Monitors“.

This bug affects my x86 laptop and my x86_64 desktop. I wondered if it was somehow related to the new Ubuntu theme, but that does not seem to be the case (the problem appears when using other theme engines as well). However, testing with xev shows that the button press and release events are being sent properly.

I'm also experiencing this, e.g in Eye of GNOME 2.28.0 and Nautilus on my x86 dell laptop latitude d810.

A note for any developers looking at this: The easiest way to reproduce this bug is to open the calculator and try repeatedly pressing a number button.

This bug seems to affect all of the gnome UI (and it's not a xorg issue), so I'm assigning it to meta-gnome2, as that looks like the best fit so far.

This seems to be an issue with GTK+, I saw a bug report on GTK+ bugzilla.
It seem to affect GTK+ 2.18.1, can someone confirm this ?

I tested it, after compiling GTK+ 2.18.0 from the source tar.gz, the problem is gone.

hotnuma, you are right. There is a bug report on bugzilla, witch describes the same problem.
