R600 driver crashes when adding effects in kwin

Seen on a radeon mobility 5650.
When changing settings for kwin (the KDE window manager) it sometimes crashes with the top of the stack trace in r600_dri.so
top of stack was at r600_bo -> r600_buffer_create
Saw a suggestion in debian bug 612609 to try to cherry pick 63b9790a55038c262b57c846a5f7067ea33fc60f from mesa master.
Haven't seen the crash since.

I reported this bug with backtrace to bugs.kde.org:

I have been testing and these are my findings:
Mesa 7.9 classic - no kwin crashes
Mesa 7.11-devel classic - no kwin crashes
Mesa 7.10.1 gallium (natty default) - kwin crashes whenever I change window
decoration, color scheme, turn on/off effect etc.
Mesa 7.10.1 classic - no crashes.

It seems that problem is in gallium driver.

My graphic card is mobility radeon hd 2400.

This commit made it into Mesa 7.10.2 so upgrading to the new upstream release would be another option.
