@imackee, have you used the jaunty-propopsed repository recently?

No Martin, I do not have the proposed updates in my software sources. I
did try the proposed source in an earlier version of ubuntu but have
gone for maximum stability with this version.

From looking at the log I don't see any issues with the mesa update itself. I do however, see several errors while the proprietary fonts are being downloaded from the sourceforge.net website. For example:

2009-05-13 22:27:01 ERROR -1: Malformed status line.
andale32.exe: No such file or directory
All done, errors in processing 1 file(s)
dpkg: error processing ttf-mscorefonts-installer (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Could it then be that apport incorrectly "blames" this error on mesa just because mesa was installed right afterwards?

Anyway, I can't find any actionable error information in this log that could lead to a change in the mesa package; so I'm marking that part of the bug as invalid. If you're able to provide a more detailed error report against the mesa please feel free to re-open with additional information.

Ok Martin, I only reported this error because there was an advice to
send a bug report. The malformed mscorefonts package has been producing
regular error messages and I am sure you are right.

If it's still an issue, are you behind an authenticating proxy ?
