Bug Description

After upgrading my brave old k6@400 (ubuntu hardware database
9c052951c7cf1b48672c9bd84731b9a9)
the new dri system crashes all glx-apps saying "Ungültiger Maschinenbefehl" (not
allowed machine code)
mesa indirect works.

Well, if so (I mean duplication of bug #23861) it means it's not too card
related but CPU: thus it's even more serious problem, because at first I thought
that it's only problem for G400/Duron combo, but now it seems it can be problem
for _ANY_ Duron system (or any CPU which cannot execute certain type of SIMD
opcode(s)). Since several people don't have money to get a "better" machine just
for this, the priority for this bug is at least major for me, since it renders
the new ubuntu system unusbale for me and for example for my father as well
since we sould like to run some not-too-hard 3D programs (it worked with 5.04)
which are unusabke with software rendering ... ;-( ;-(

Ok willing to try, but my bug was submitted under amd64 architecture. I need an
amd64 port to resolve this. Thanks Daniel.

It seems to me, that this annoying bug is resolved with ubuntu7 package. I´ve
installed it, now dri seems working fine, but for sure I can tell if you provide
the libgl1-mesa package, too, because dri-package depends on it (dri-package is
installed, but not configured). Thanks a lot.

It fixes it for me - but, I have to use --force-depends to get it to install as it depends on (I think) libgl1-
mesa_6.3.2-0ubuntu7_i386 and I only have libgl1-mesa_6.3.2-0ubuntu6_i386

Is libgl1-mesa_6.3.2-0ubuntu7_i386 available yet?

Seems like a candidate for breezy-updates, assuming the fix is low-risk

It does not seem to fix it here, even after I install with force-depends.
This is Pentium M so I guess SSE2 would be ok here. The card is ATI X600 and
xservedr-xorg-driver-ati-75 works with it.

Hi Dan, thank you for the fix; the ubuntu7 package installed by force fixed it
on my setup.

Before fix, I was experiencing non accelerated GL too. I have a Voodoo 3k
(tdfx), Athlon 1600. After the fix, my glx gears fps went to ~1280.

Out of curiosity, where was the problem and how did you get there ?

Yes, it seems to fix the problem (I have AMD Athlon 550 MHz + ATI Radeon 9250
SE) but the package database became broken because of unmet depencencies. When
shall the fix enter the official Ubuntu repositories?

troy: i accidentally marked your bug as a duplicate of the wrong one. your bug
