Bug Description

First of all, I have ubuntu intrepid completely updated and dist-upgraded this morning. So, I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug 245888 whish looks similar and is fixed.

I have problems when trying to run a game (spore) through wine. I get the messege "Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic.".

Also, when running glxinfo, I have:

belen@belen-laptop:~$ glxinfo | grep direct
Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic.
direct rendering: Yes

Another issue I think might be related, is that glxgears doesn't finish crrectly. When I close the glxgears window I get:

belen@belen-laptop:~$ glxgears
Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic.
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 4209 requests (4133 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

(the Fatal error is what appears when closing glxgears, the ttm messege qppears right at the beggining)

And another strange thing I found when trying to work this out...when using displaymanager-gtk and testing the configuration I get an error on terminal that reads:

on_button_test_config_clicked()
xauth: creating new authority file /tmp/dcg-jUVKhZ9131/xauthority
Got pid 9153
(0, 0)
checkpoint 1
None
False
Sorry, this configuration video card driver
and monitor doesn't appear to work:

Messages from the X server:
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error parsing the config file
Fatal server error:

(The last line is in spanish and says there are no child proccesses)

And to finish, the result of executing lshw is:

belen@belen-laptop:~$ sudo lshw -C display
[sudo] password for belen:

Any help would be very much appreciated...

Also, the other similar bugs that discuss this problem mention issues with compiz. In my case, compiz is running just right.

I can confirm this. I'm using a Dell Studio 15 with Intel X3100. Compiz runs just fine. When I started Google Earth it complained about falling back to software accelerated OpenGL and it runs a bit slugish. If I start it, it too throws out this error message: "Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic". I'm using Intrepid up-to-date too.
