Thinkpad T510 24.04 beta hangs on live CD

Booting with UB 24.04 CD on Thinkpad T510. Budgie graphics are missing on boot, just test "Ubuntu Budgie 24.04".
Once desktop is loaded a hard freeze. If one selects the boot option "Safe graphics" then the boot completes and liveCD is functional without lockup

The kernal module drm seems to be missing.

the dmesg says 'nomodeset' is used, did you boot with the failsafe mode?

oh sorry, so "safe graphics" boots.. and dmesg is from that, it doesn't try loading drm exactly because of that

if the bootup gfx is missing then it seems i915.ko kernel driver is buggy, or mesa crocus driver if it's just the session hanging

Yes, safe boot boots correctly and that is where I did the dmesg.
Is there anything I can try to help eliminate possibilities?
