i must add the "recovery" instead of "nomodeset" or "nomodeset acpi_osi=Linux" at the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash".after enter the tty console, "sudo service lightdm start" fall in cycling.
the "quiet splash recovery" could boot normally but each time i must confirm the menu of grub 1.99 twice
.
my kernel version: 3.8.0-35-generic.

yesterday i reboot serveral times, it appeared normal, but now i got the same problem. i want to know how this happened.

i found when enter into the black screen, after press ctrl-alt-del or power off then power on, system will get into the right display, and sometimes generate an error report.
