Bug Description
Installing menu + menu-xdg results in all menu entries from the debian menu also appearing in 'Other', which makes for a rather long list.
Using menu only and adding
<menu name="Debian Menu" icon="debian">
</menu>
to /etc/xdg/
Gets the 'Debian Menu' as a separate entry in the 'Applications' root menu, so menu-xdg isn't necessary, but there may be other people like me who think it is because under gnome (ubuntu proper) it is and that's what you find when you do some googling.

I can confirm this, I experience the same. But entries under Other appeared after I've done some actions:
Eg. update-menus as ordinary user not root and installed some applications.
