I have tried to reproduce, but can not.

Can you give a exact reproducing procedure.

The stactrace:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/meld/meld/dirdiff.py", line 345, in on_file_filters_changed
    self._create_filter_menu_button(self.ui_manager)
  File "/usr/lib/meld/meld/dirdiff.py", line 326, in _create_filter_menu_button
    label = misc.make_tool_button_widget(self.filter_menu_button.props.label)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'props'

Have you tried arround to add a file filter and customize the entry?
