Bug Description

Package: meld
Ubuntu release: 12.04
Package version: 1.5.3-1ubuntu1

Steps to reproduce:
 - Start meld in windowed mode -> OK.
 - Set meld to fullscreen mode -> OK.
 - Quit meld -> OK.
 - Start meld -> meld starts in fullscreen mode as expected, but its status bar is transparent instead of being painted (see attached screenshot). Cycling between windowed and fullscreen modes fixes the painting.

My Ubuntu 12.04 is installed as a VMware Player guest within a Windows 7 host.

I upgraded to 1.6.0-1 from this page:
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/core/quantal/universe/base/meld
, since i'm still on 12.04 and the bug still exists. If I resize and maximize after then the status bar correctly appears.
