If you have discovered a problem with mediascanner2, please file a new bug report rather than adding comments to closed bugs. You are almost certainly seeing a different problem in newer releases.

This 2014 bug report was caused by the code throwing an exception when it could no longer create new inotify watches. That was corrected back then:

So this particular bug is not still present in yakkety. You have a different bug.
