mcomix failed to run after upgrading to 19.10

Bug Description

With the following error messages.

Gtk-Message: 11:51:48.901: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/mcomix", line 11, in <module>
    load_entry_point('mcomix==1.2.1', 'console_scripts', 'mcomix')()
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mcomix-1.2.1-py2.7.egg/mcomix/run.py", line 206, in run
    assert PIL.Image.VERSION >= '1.1.5'
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'VERSION'

Basically the VERSION attribute was replaced with version.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. 19.10 recently reached end of life. I tried to reproduce this on Ubuntu 20.04 with mcomix 1.2.1mcomix3+git20200206-1 and it seemed to start without problems. Could any of you check with Ubuntu 20.04 and see if the problem still occurs?

Normally this might be a candidate for a Stable Release Update [1], but since 19.10 has reached end of life, I'm marking this as fixed.
