Bug Description

Binary package hint: maximus

Under Ubuntu 11.04, with the "classic" interface and maximus installed, the windows maximised by Maximus are most of the time incorrectly rendered. The place that was previously used to display the title bar can be hollow, like when opening Firefox. The bottom of the window is not displayed. Or the window can be placed on the middle of the screen, like when opening EOG.

Have exact same problem, please find a fix for this :)

If you force a re-render by minimizing and then maximizing the render is ok, it only does this when it goes from un-maximize to maximize, hope this helps...

I think that the bug is different than bug 560272. Maximus used to work correctly with Ubuntu 10.04, under the GNOME desktop, while there were problems with XFCE. Here, I'm having this error with GNOME since I moved to Ubuntu 11.04.

On a side note, it is possible to obtain the very same behaviour using Compiz, and that one works better.
To maximise the windows, open the CompizConfig application, and select "Maximise" in the placement mode.
Then, to remove the window frame when the window is maximised, select "Window Decoration" in the CompizConfig application, and in "Decoration windows" type "!state=maxvert". It works just like Maximus, without the bugs. Enjoy!

Changed in maximus (Ubuntu):

I have exactly the same problem. I use GNOME classic on Ubuntu 11.04 with the default theme.

Had exactly the same problem. For me, changing to "Classic Ubuntu (No effects)" instead of "Classic Ubuntu" solved the problem.
