The "dynare-matlab" package is only for machines with MATLAB installed, as explained in the description of the package.

So I don't think that the problem you are reporting is a bug. You should not have installed this package in the first place if you don't have MATLAB, and you should uninstall it now.

If you want to run Dynare with GNU Octave instead, the "dynare" package is what you are looking for.

Hi
I read that matlab-support is only for matlab installations as the name suggests.
But is is there without any matlab version installed ever before.
I dont know which dependency it was, that installed it automatically.

If you upgrade Ubuntu, matlab-support asks always (in an infinite loop)
about the matlab location without any escape chance.
This can only be solved by a kill of these processes (several times repeated)
(during an upgrade a very inconvenient situation).
Later i could remove the package still being unaware why it is there.

So the bug is that in the logic of the upgrade i cannot escape without a valid matlab installation path.

The solution is to allow a override of the matlab-support configuration during upgrade
or a deinstallation/skip of the package during upgrade
or that the dependency which installed it is cleared.
Best

What you are describing is a problem in the matlab-support package, not in the dynare-matlab package. You should probably report a new bug against matlab-support, or reassign this bug.
