Bug Description
[Impact]
* The MATE display applet for XRandR crashes on restart.
[Test Case]
* Install Ubuntu MATE 17.10 Beta 2, open the Displays control center and check "Show monitors in panel".
* Log out and log in. The Display applet will crash and disappear from the notification area.
* Install mate-settings-
[Regression Potential]
* It is possible some keybinding might not function correctly after applying this patch , although no issues were encounter during testing.

Accepted mate-settings- daemon into artful-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https:/ /launchpad. net/ubuntu/ +source/ mate-settings- daemon/ 1.18.1- 2ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
