ubuntu mate-panel shows open app window preview on wrong display

Problem: If mate-panel orientation is set from the bottom to the left. Then you hover the mouse over the open app icon in mate-panel it shows a small window preview on the secondary display to the left

Expected behavior:
if you hover the mouse over the open app icon in the mate-panel it shows a small window preview on the main display.

Let me know if anything else should be provided.

The attached screenshot shows that the window previews ( while hovering the mouse over it icons in mate-panel) are shown on the wrong display (not on the one that is set as the primary, where the actual mate-panel is).
