Ubuntu Mate notification-area-applet - near 100% cpu usage

notification-area-applet process misbehaves when the number of tray icons increases.

Upstream developers have confirmed the existence of the bug, and it is known to have been fixed already somewhere in the master branch. They are looking for the fix in the master branch.
