Bug Description
Ubuntu 16.04
I upgraded to Mate Desktop 1.18 from ppa https:/
The Notification Area 1.18 shows 2x network connections (see the attached screenshot)
Removing the applet makes it disappear for a few minutes, but it soon comes back
Any one else having same issue?

@philthynz, I don't think it's a good idea to install 1.18 on 16.04 from a third party PPA and then use that configuration to submit bugs.
If you want to help, it's better to use 17.04 Beta 2 which comes with 1.18.
Now then, that said, I can confirm I experienced this issue on 17.04, and there's a few others that have reported it on the forums:
